the first GSR8 hiking trip!

haha though it was a short 1.5 hours hike, we at least explored the alexandra arch (hmm did we even make it there?), henderson waves etc etc..

the HortPark - our starting point

we headed towards the telok blangah way towards henderson waves...

the long never-ending steel structures that we had to walk through...

across highways...

through forests...

and taking pictures so that we won't be bored along the way...

walking on midlands where we were probably at 10-storey heights and people staying in those flats could probably see us..

climbed some steps...

and taking a rest after shedding some calories...

in search of the henderson waves... (so are we going to see water waves?)

but passed by this place where wedding couples supposedly like to take photos here, but we didn't wanna climb the many steps ahead to see more beautiful scenery (maybe next time, haha)
until we saw some form of signages to bring us to our destination... (hmm and actually there's alot more to explore at the southern ridges... probably a second hiking trip?)

when we finally reached the supposed henderson waves, we were too tired and can't help it but to take a rest...

so this is what henderson waves are, no water but more paths to walk.. haha.

seems like this is quite a popular place for a weekend getaway, even though this area is still rather new..

wow and from the height we were at, we could overlook the roads in the ____ (probably Henderson?) area

and finally, the picture to show that we have been there, done that.. haha

(and our growling stomachs signalled the end of the hiking trip)

ok, tomorrow we'll be doing a couple of hours of walking.. and that's it. it's a great start.. and some of us (like me and zq) could be sick of the usual shopping, eating and paulaners outing.. so we have came up with an option of an expedition that could be executed during ANY weekend!

all we need is just one and a half days, less than 100 dollars sing and we'll have as much fun as going to hawaii!

Our 4th Luo Hei and the biggest turnout in 4 years, even Isaac came!
Some personal learning outcomes/ key take-aways from this gathering:

Adrien Zhuang sleeps in everyone's house. He just lie on my bed and KO 5 mins after entering my house.
Smoked Salmon is a good choice for Luo Hei.
Jiahuan prefers German guys - she said "okay" when they wana sleep with her!?!?
Weisiong is an expert in running, playing guitar & drum, taking photos, and he's also an expert dishwasher. Guess I will not receive any complaints of dirty steamboats next year.
Homeground advantage doesn't count in gambling... i learnt that long ago, but was reminded of this point again.
Learn from Joanna, pray to god more often and you will get triple-7 in Blackjack. This is the first time i see someone getting triple 7!

Haha, I bet everyone knows that I'm a Jap anime fan and I always use Jap anime songs whenever possible. This recent one has caught my attention with its nice tune.

Sigh.. Here is more food (which implies more calories, grrr.) Some of the exchange students who've been to HK before brought us to this place called "Tang Chao" for good food at reasonable prices.. haha the interior looks quite posh yeah? Their signature dish is their beancurd dou hua which is served in a wooden bucket (that wooden bucket can serve ard 5 people, but we just shared anw... haha i didn't try cos i don't eat beancurd, heh.) We also tried their wanton noodles! Tastes alot better than the Singapore ones! *yum yum*

Here's the mobile post office that drops by our uni everyday to pick up letters and parcels, haha that's where i sent the letter to u guys! hahah quite a different thing from Singapore where we have post boxes everywhere, hahaha. Oh! and my school's quite near an Ikea, their swedish meatballs are so much cheaper than Singapore and they have bigger portions (i think). 10 meatballs for 19hkd! (that's about 4 bucks?) And the "panini" (a type of bread) is served at this "cafe" at my school.. Quite alot of exchange students from America and Europe are seen there trying their sandwiches, not bad but price is abit steep though! And the last pic: this egg tart factory that we chanced upon in Mongkok, which most of us think that they have better egg tarts than those highly publicised ones! ard S$0.50 for each egg tart? haha. *yum yum yum*

The Disneyland MTR & A trip to Lantau Island

Haha i didn't know that the MTR for the train that goes to Disneyland in HK is specially constructed until i really saw it. Of course i didn't spend the money to go to Disneyland la! (it costs ard S$60 just for the entrance fee btw, expensive!) So on our way to the last MTR station on Lantau Island, we got out of the train just to cross the platform to take the special Disney train and went back on our way to our destination, heh. Notice that they have Disney figurines in the train, and their handles are in the shape of Mickey Mouse's head too! haha.

And when we reached our destination (we wanted to go visit the Big Buddha on Lantau Island and shop at the factory outlets), the Tung Chung MTR station, we saw our first food republic in HK! But the food was expensive and not fantastic =( We took the cable car to the Big Buddha attraction and noticed that some pple actually hike the entire cable car distance! (i think you'd be able to zoom in and see some tiny human figures trekking on the path) See the Big Buddha statue amidst the mountains? (look like some xian1 jing4 in some immortal drama, heh) And we ate delicious durian crepe at a dessert foodstall there! (Though i think the fresh durians are definitely nicer!) Oh! There was really lots of factory outlets at that MTR station, but as a student it was of course expensive for me la! So i didn't buy anything:( But there was Esprit, Giordano, Club 21, Calvin Klein, Polo Ralph Lauren, Adidas, Timberland factory outlets etc etc...

I realised that every college has their own gym! haha so i went jogging in the gym today cos it's super super super super cold outside (think i'm going to get another jacket le)... Notice on the left side there is an iGallop?! Think that would be my best friend for the next few months, heh. SMU gym should have iGallop too! But after seeing this gym i miss SMU gym so much :'( i want my gym tvs!!! So Weisiong to answer your question, i'm not that deprived of a gym but i still like the SMU gym much more!!!

Fattening but nice desserts from this dessert chain store called 水流山 in Hong Kong. ZQ would love the one on the left: Mango bits + mango ice cream.. Grrr but fatteningggg =( The one on the left has strawberry bits with aloe jelly!

haha guess where i took this photo?! I was on my way walking to this super ulu place with many factory outlets in the South of Hong Kong Island near some Ferrari service center thingy at around sunset time, and thought this looked nice, heh. It turned out to be a wasted trip cos the stuff were SUPER ex even though the whole building supposedly had many brands' factory outlets at reasonably cheap prices.. SIGH. but i did have my first experience taking their public buses! =)

Our attempt to visit HKU on the Hong Kong Island: We had to walk up soooo many steep slopes before reaching the uni (Notice the many many levels of slopes we had to climb, and the sea in the far centre of the pic)! And by the time we reached the uni we barely had much energy to explore around le.. :(

Hong Kong School of Motoring: To think that i actually bumped into their driving centre here on the way to find the factory outlet building! haha their L plates are really so different from ours...

Hi all! As from statistics from previous gsr8 posts, i hardly make any cos i'm lazy to, heh. Since Jos asked me to post some pics, hmm i shall just post some pics of my room la!

My bed looks abit like hospital bed yeah? Well can't help it cos that's the bedsheets they gave us.. The room size is probably only the size of gsr8? 2 of us sharing, then we have a common toilet shared by 16 pple (8 rooms)... my study table with one of the drawers faulty (grrr.) it's first day so it still looks quite neat la huh? errrr well the state now may not be as neat...

And the last picture is for Nat! Sorry i didn't get to wear this in Singapore (no occasions ma), but since the weather's so cold here, i wore the dress u gave me! Looks nice hor! One of the exchange students from US said i looked nice in it, heh :p And as u can see, this room's alot nicer than mine right! I was in another exchange friend Robyn's room and took this picture! :)

For rehearsal effect, all GSR8 peers are to address her by her new name Candy, so as to condition her to respond to the name. In an attempt to escape reality (a failed attempt though, now that i'm typing this at 12+am before i continue with my CB), a group of us gathered at Marina Square, indulging in RMCB overload (RMCB does not mean Retail Management Consumer Behaviour overload btw, it means Rocky Master ChocoBanana, haha), and came up with the idea of "Vision 2020" for all of us. So here it goes. By 2020, all of us would be around 35-40 years old, having some kind of spending power, experience and skills set, which would help us build the following dream:

This shows an overview of the plot of land which we will all contribute to buy up, and on this piece of land each of us will have a house, and other facilities as well (such as gym, arcade, bbq pit etc). We have also designated positions for everyone, since all of us are assumed to have earned enough money to retire in this place. So here it goes:

1. Real Estate Finance Director: Adrian Zhuang (to find a good deal for the plot of land and ensure the competitive prices of our property)

2. Private Wealth Management Director: Serene Lim (to continue investing our wealth and hopefully increase them)

3. Architect: Wei Siong (to design the actual blueprint of our estate)

4. Security & Maintenance Director: Joseph Sung (to implement some foolproof IT stuff to prevent foreign intrusion - CIT of some sort)

5. Minister of Parliament: Alvin Chia (to protect our interests and rights in the midst of political events)

6. Lifeguard: Zhiqin (to ensure the sustainability of our lives when we swim along the swimming track along the peripherals of the estate)

7. Valet parker & counsellor: Joanna (who was the only one without driving licence who managed to succeed in beating 3 other licence holders in Mario race, as well as the only one who often spends her time on the hp counselling others)

8. Gym attendant: Jiahuan (to maintain gym equipment, to educate those in the estate of the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle and eventually promote a long-term healthy living)

9. Property Manager cum spokeswoman: Natalie (to be our PR in communicating to the external world in any press releases)

10. Receptionist: Serene Ang (to leverage on her expertise during internship as a receptionist to handle the foreseen never-ending calls on our unique concept)

11. Concierge and Complaints Director: Joseph Lin (being the most well-tempered guy who never fails to accede to requests, he will definitely be able to handle incoming complaints from existing residents and resolve issues amicably)

12. Resident photographer cum security camera officer: Wei Siong (being one of our usual photographers, he will constantly update the other residents of events held within the estate through his photos, and is in charge of the strategic placement of security cameras throughout the estate to prevent trespassing)

13. Weatherman: Zhiqin/Ray (depending on which weather we would want for whatever occasion, we will send the "right" person to foresee the "right" weather we want)

14. Butcher: Adrian Goh (being the connoiseur in all kinds of meats, he will supply our daily intake of proteins and recommend daily specials of various high-quality meats)

15. Bodyguard: David (being trained in Muay Thai and his experience as a gym trainer, he will definitely be able to protect any of us against fans - should any of us become famous, assassinators - should any of us become targets of some sort, or violent trespassers)

16. Welfare & Entertainment Officer: Isaac (to organise entertaining events for the estate, being equipped with the necessary skills sets and resources, as proven from our earlier balloon party)

17. Vice President: Adrian Goh (now this vice means VICE - 吃喝嫖赌, so u should understand why he's chosen la huh? =p)

18. Water Sports Director: Keith (being an experienced dragon-boater, he will train us in all kinds of water sports to fully utilise our roundabout pool, to maintain all of our healthy lifestyle)

19. BBQ Pit Manager: Elizabeth (since she likes to cook for others to eat, this position is definitely most suited for her)

Project "Jiahuan's Camera Workshop 101"

Liabilities come with owning a new camera. Here is one of them:

Serene Ang and I bought new digital cameras (first digicam for me), after which both of us grabbed the opportunity to learn some skills of using new functions. The highlight for the night is "十连拍", which resulted in 200+ photos on my first camera-shooting lesson, now i know how much effort goes on before posting photos on blogs... haha:) These are the photos we took at Clarity Cafe for Adrien's birthday celebration, after which we proceeded to Bugis and continued our photo-whoring outside Esprit.

Okay, I'm tired of beating around the bush. I'm a beautiful

- Jobs I should look out for? Everyone knows - lawyer, investment

I read your posting with great interest and have thought meaningfully
about your dilemma. I offer the following analysis of your predicament.
Firstly, I'm not wasting your time, I qualify as a guy who fits your
bill; that is I make more than $500K per year. That said here's how I
see it.

Your offer, from the prospective of a guy like me, is plain and simple a
crappy business deal. Here's why. Cutting through all the B.S., what you
suggest is a simple trade: you bring your looks to the party and I bring
my money. Fine, simple. But here's the rub, your looks will fade and my
money will likely continue into perpetuity...in fact, it is very likely
that my income increases but it is an absolute certainty that you won't
be getting any more beautiful!

So, in economic terms you are a depreciating asset and I am an earning
asset. Not only are you a depreciating asset, your depreciation
accelerates! Let me explain, you're 25 now and will likely stay pretty
hot for the next 5 years, but less so each year. Then the fade begins in
earnest. By 35 stick a fork in you!

So in Wall Street terms, we would call you a trading position, not a buy
and hold...hence the rub...marriage. It doesn't make good business sense
to "buy you" (which is what you're asking) so I'd rather lease. In case
you think I'm being cruel, I would say the following. If my money were
to go away, so would you, so when your beauty fades I need an out. It's
as simple as that. So a deal that makes sense is dating, not marriage.

Separately, I was taught early in my career about efficient markets. So,
I wonder why a girl as "articulate, classy and spectacularly beautiful"
as you has been unable to find your sugar daddy. I find it hard to
believe that if you are as gorgeous as you say you are that the $500K
hasn't found you, if not only for a tryout.

By the way, you could always find a way to make your own money and then
we wouldn't need to have this difficult conversation.

With all that said, I must say you're going about it the right way.

A mouse looked through the crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife open a package. What food might this contain?' The mouse wondered - - - he was devastated to discover it was a mousetrap.

Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse proclaimed the warning : There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!' The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said, 'Mr.Mouse, I can tell this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence to me. I cannot be bothered by it.'

Some personal highlights of this belated mooncake nite: David just reached Joanna's house and started yelling "what kinda place is this... like prison like that". He said these without knowing that Jo's Dad was in his room, and the door wasn't closed!

Over at the poolside, im seated right in between the centre of the 2 circular tables. 5 person to my right - David, Goh, Jos, Adrien, Serene Lim - were talking abt programming(!?!?), IT, IB and Japan exchange. The other 5 on my left, Serene Ang, Nat, Ms Gym, Bird & Joanna were talking about things like... cant rem what... and I'm just right in the middle... duno which gang to listen to.
